Common questions

My heart rate, steps, or sleep are not updating

Open the Health app on your iPhone, tap Summary, then tap your picture or initials. Under Privacy, tap Apps and select Heartrate. Confirm that Heart Rate, Steps, and Sleep are allowed. Return to Heartrate and keep it open briefly so the latest available Health data can sync.

If you recently changed permissions, close and reopen Heartrate. New data can only appear after Apple Health has recorded it. See Apple's Health permissions guide.

My Apple Watch is not sending new readings

Make sure the Watch is on your wrist and unlocked, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi is available, and both the iPhone and Watch versions of Heartrate have been opened at least once. Check that Apple Health has a recent heart-rate reading before troubleshooting the app connection.

Restart Heartrate on both devices if the Watch shows a stale value. Restarting the devices can also restore a stalled Watch connection.

A friend cannot see my health data

Confirm that the friend request has been accepted and that you have enabled the relevant Activity, Sleep, or Heart Rate permission for that friend. Each sharing permission is controlled separately.

Ask both people to open Heartrate and refresh. Removing a friend ends access immediately, so a removed connection must be added again.

I cannot sign in to my account

Use the same sign-in method you used when the account was created. If you chose Sign in with Apple and hid your email address, continue with Apple instead of entering your personal email manually.

If you still cannot sign in, email support with the approximate time of the attempt and a screenshot of the error. Never send your password or Apple verification code.

How do I request or delete my account data?

Email support from the address connected to your account and state whether you want a copy of your data or permanent account deletion. Account deletion removes your profile and associated app data.

We may ask you to confirm account ownership, but we will never ask for your password, Apple verification code, or a copy of your health records.
